The Steelers Blog did an interview with die-hard fan Adam “Lazer” Maxwell. Adam has been on multiple radio shows and even proposed to his girlfriend in the end zone of Heinz Field.

Have you been a Steelers Fan your entire life, how did you get hooked?

Yes since birth my dad being the influence.  My grandparents were married in Pittsburgh, PA and my dad was born in Pittsburgh as well before our family moved west into Ohio for our families lightning protection business in the mid 60s. Some fans may have heard me on sirius NFL radio calling in as Lazer from Ohio to make comments and arguements with some Steelers topics.  Its been about a yr since my last call but I talked with Adam Schien and Solomon Wilcott on a regular basis for 2 yrs on nothing but Steelers on air.  I haven’t called recently cause I feel my voice was finally heard!
 
 What is your best/favorite memory of The Pittsburgh Steelers?
 
Wow? So many, being only 28 yrs old you wont hear me say anything about the 70s but i studied the history and know it well.  Jerome Bettis winning a super bowl in Detroit, his home town, reminds me of a Disney movie.  Also along with that Roethlisberger promised him that and handed him 4 game balls in the playoffs till the end.  Super Bowl XL was on my birthday, 9 months later my son was born to the date!  Cant beat that!
 
Who is your favorite player both past and present?
 
Past:  Bubby Brister was my idol at one point, kind of funny but true.  I cant think of anyone i would want to hang with more than Merril Hoge,  dude was a BEAST,  beyond that  he continued to work while also punching cancer in the mouth, that is a great thing.  His “FIND A WAY” book and quote is something i wish more people would understand!
Present:  ALL OF THEM!  I own close to 15 jerseys of the current starting roster, i switch it up to represent in western Ohio, game day, football season, or not i always throw 1 on!
 
When you think of Steelers Football, what is the first thing that comes to mind?
 
Toughness, intensity, and family! I often compare the Steelers to the Cobra Kai Dojo, NO MERCY!
 
Obviously, you have to LOVE the Steelers to do an interview with TheSteelersBlog.com – explain your passion?
 
I grew up wrestling my entire life, I can remember watching Steelers games between matches on a old school hand held TV.  Its just something i can’t miss, its beyond anything normal people would truly understand or can recognize.  Its never a question ever if the game will be watched by me or if i’m going, those days and weekends are a true excitement its almost like I’m on the team, cause guess what “WE GOT A GAME!”  Lastly I recently proposed to my beautiful girlfriend in the south end zone at Heinz field here is the video link if you want to see it!
 
 
Who is the greatest Steeler of All-Time and why?
 
Jack Lambert,  body slamming guys and pointing in their face, its mean and i like it! 

What do the Steelers need to do differently in 2011 to win their 7th Super Bowl?

I don’t think we are bad on any level, but I think we need more sacks and turnovers and that all starts with pressuring the QB, I am a buckeye guy on Saturdays so I really loved the Heyward pick this year i think he can help instantly.  We gift wrapped that Super Bowl to Green Bay with turnovers, they didn’t win it as much as we lost it! 

Do you have a certain routine on gamedays for the Steelers?

If we go to the game its get to the tailgate area early. We are there with the crew near the stadium under the over pass just NW of the stadium. If i watch the game at home again its up early getting chili or food prepared and the TV is on max volume listening and watching pregame shows and setting my fantasy football team roster based on injuries and match ups.  Right before the game i will pound RENEGADE extremely loud.
 
How many Steelers games have you been to in your life?
 
Its around 22 between Paul brown stadium, Cleveland stadium, and Heinz field.
 
What NFL team do you dis-like the most and why?
 
Most say the Ravens but they give us a great game usually that we win in great fashion, so for me its the BENGALS hands down!  I live an hour north of Cincinnati and some of my friends are Bengals fans, I always tell them we are not friends during the season.  They think i’m joking but i’m dead serious.  Don’t rub your inconsistencies off on me!
 
What is your proudest piece of Steelers Gear or Memorabillia?
 
I have a terrible towel that i got when i was 9 years old.  This towel has been with me at every game I’ve attended, its dirty, its musty, its filled with blood, sweat, tears and beer at one point it did have a bad smell.  I recently washed it and took care of that issue. If you could go to lunch with any Steeler, who would it be and why?
 
Hines Ward, hes a 2x Super Bowl champ, a Super Bowl MVP, a first ballot hall of fame inductee, dancing with the stars champion, hes gonna win another Super Bowl this year!  I don’t like to see injuries but i do like that he breaks jaws and hurts the guys that are trying to hurt him. Then he SMILES!
