Check out our latest Steeler Fan Interview with Die-Hard Steeler Fan Katrina Jones who has been to over 35 Steeler Games and has been a Steeler fan since the age of 3! GO STEELERS!
Have you been a Steelers Fan your entire life, how did you get hooked?
Yes I can honestly say that I have been a fan for life! I was born and raised outside of Cleveland Ohio and despised the Browns and started rooting for who used to be their biggest rivalry. Who other then the Pittsburgh Steelers!!! I was always the blacksheep of the family so I went with it. At the age of 3 my mom was in the process of making me a blanket and I threw it away cause it was Browns colors; she then made me a Black and Gold blanket so that I had it on game day. Now at the age of 39 my love for the Steelers has only grown with each year. Now through the last season, off season and through the LockOut; I have made several new friends of STEELER NATION via facebook in the best group-STEELER FEVER! I hold as of recently an admin position and get to interact even more with the friends/fans of the Men of Steel. It’s amazing to see how many fans that the STEELERS really do have. Not just in America but in the WORLD! The group alone is very fun and very important to me. If you miss something; an article, a play a draft choice – you name it.. it’s all listed in there because we take care of each other with knowledge.
What is your best/favorite memory of The Pittsburgh Steelers?
I would have to say that EVERY year the Steelers bring a new memory to my heart. I will never forget my first Steelers game in the old Cleveland municipal stadium! I was surrounded by Steelers fans in the Browns house! That was back in 1981 on November 22! Steelers won 32 to 10! For the last 11 years since I have lived here in Pa I have been able to go to training camp every day if I wanted to. Which I do go several times. I have been fortunate enough that each session I get to shake hands and get autographs from our Men of Steel. This past year I won tickets from a twitter contest that Ryan Clark #25 hosted. There was only 2 tickets but Ryan found out that I had 4 boys and made sure that I had 5 tickets so that we could ALL enjoy the game! Guess where that game happened to be at..CLEVELAND!!! So it was nice to travel back to watch the STEELERS pounce all over the clowns in their house again! Steelers won 41 to 9
Who is your favorite player both past and present?
I loved watching John Stallworth one the of the greatest wide receivers the Steelers ever had (in my eyes anyways) My all time favorite is the awesome Mr. James Harrison! Harrison hits hard, plays hard and is a hard team player. His passion to play the game keeps the rest of the team on their toes. I have followed Harrison since he played college ball at Kent State.
When you think of Steelers Football, what is the first thing that comes to mind?
STEELER NATION!!!! The fans + the players + the franchise = STEELER NATION. Hard hitting, passion & smash mouth football!
Obviously, you have to LOVE the Steelers to do an interview with TheSteelersBlog.com – explain your passion?
My passion is just that. I live and breath Steelers football. I played football all the way from peewee football to my varsity year in high school. Black and GOLD run through these veins made of STEEL.
Who is the greatest Steeler of All-Time and why?
Honestly I have to say Chuck Noll! I know he never played for the STEELERS but he has what made STEELERS football what it is today. Thank you Chuck for making the mold of our great team.
What do the Steelers need to do differently in 2011 to win their 7th Super Bowl?
Stay healthy! After watching the draft and seeing all who are playing with this year; I think that we are in GREAT shape.
Do you have a certain routine on gamedays for the Steelers?
Yes I do! Game days in our house consist of an entire weekend. Saturday nights or the previous day of game day I have 6 different kinds of wings marinating, macaroni and potatoe salad being made for Game Day. Game day starts with getting wings cooked, STEELERS cake made (which every week is made with a different players number- NEVER – the same player each week) friends come over in the Steelers gear and we all watch the game together. I always wear a James Harrison jersey or t-shirt..but always have my Steeler shorts, Steeler socks and Steeler Tennis Shoes on. I also ALWAYS have on a Steelers ball cap and drink out of the same Steelers mug. I’m also decorated in my Steeler pins on my shirt and have my trusty Terrible Towel!!!!!!
How many Steelers games have you been to in your life?
I had to go count the ticket stubs! I have been to 37 Steeler games in my lifetime with more to come.
What NFL team do you dis-like the most and why?
The ORIGINAL Cleveland Browns now named the Ravens. The reason why is because I hated the them when I lived in Cleveland and when they left, my hatred went with them.
What is your proudest piece of Steelers Gear or Memorabillia?
I have to say my proudest piece of Steelers Gear was my signed James Harrison jersey. I say “was” because one time during a move it was stolen from my house and I have never retrieved it nor who know who stole it. I had it at Steelers camp one year and he personally signed it and I was able to get a picture of me with it and him! So I guess the picture has to settle for that now.
If you could go to lunch with any Steeler, who would it be and why?
James Harrison of course! For one he is my idol and I love the fact that he’s out spoken. I love the way he plays the game. His passion to keep on going no matter what or who is standing in his way; he just keeps going! I have several questions that I would ask of him of his career. He plays the same position that i did when I played football growing up!
